Dimensions 40 cm x 40 cm Washable in a laundry bag with gentle cycle at 30 ° C Knit Tank was launched in 2019 to facilitate the dialogue between designers and artisanal women in Kenya. Martha Wambui Ndungu (88) has strong manual skills. Before sisal sacks, used for the transport of rice, potatoesand other foodstuffs, had given way to plastic,the fiber was available everywhere. Significantly longer periods of drought and heavy, long-lasting rain are increasingly endangering the livelihood. Knit Tank offers people an alternative way of making a living. Through training and employment, we want to enable women to gain financial controlover their lives. The newly acquired skills empower them to generate additional income, which will improve their role in society and make them more autonomous. Therefore the focus is social developments that promote a society of equality and self-efficacy on long-term. At the intersection between design and handicraft, Knit Tank is characterized by a practical and theoretical knowledge transfer. The combination of traditional techniques and design parameters enables women to translate their skills into contemporary aesthetics.In the design laboratory, fresh designs are created that give impulses to expand to new product fields. Knit Tank thus promotes the appreciation of the craft in society to ensure the future viability of the creativeindustries and craft innovation of Kenya's rich heritage. One of its key features is its ability to absorb liquid versus repelling it, even under pressure. Upon contact with any form of liquid the polymers swell to many times its original size and form a hydrogel. This principle is the backbone of the BIδ invention.&nbsp;Its filigrees knits is made up of several hydro gels,knitted and strung together to form a curtain. The curtain absorbs water when exposed to it and releases it gradually through evaporation. It is by waterevaporation that BIδ can contribute to a comfortableroom temperature and increase the humidity in aliving space, making it a natural air conditioner.&nbsp; Service Material Design, ZollingerModeling Margaret Waiyego Zollinger FOLD backpacks are the embodiment of true dedication to craftsmanship and textile design. The organic allover prints are drawn by hand and immanently transferred to the textile by means of a transfer print. This is the secret why no Fold backpack will ever be alike. Since further treatments of the textile are not necessary, this printing process is particularly environment-friendly. With a high resistance to UV rays the print also guarantees an excellent color fastness. The straps, made of recycled material, ensure optimal weight distribution on the shoulders and are a clear statement to the product’s uniqueness. Its elegant form is created by thetension between the material and the construction: While the material want to revert to its two dimensional status, the construction holds it on. The shapes are carefully designed to capture and to direct the light upwards to illuminate the ceiling and downward. Through the narrow cuts a smaller amount of light is also sent to the sides. LED variant the quality of light and atmosphere while saving energy. The development of the fixture was based on a cooperationwith the Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen.
